Terms of Use

Effective date: October 30, 2026 · Last updated: October 30, 2026

The short version: use your own school account, be respectful, don’t try to get into anything that isn’t yours, and remember the schedule can change.

1. Accepting these terms

The OC Student AI Network website (the “Site”) is operated by the Orange County Department of Education (“OCDE,” “we,” “us”). By using the Site you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you are under 18, you use the Site as part of a school activity, with your school’s permission.

2. About the Site

The Site supports the OC Student AI Network, where middle and high school students and their teachers in Orange County learn about artificial intelligence from each other. It includes public information pages, the “My Day” planner for registered attendees of the 2026 Student AI Convening, and a staff-only area for OCDE staff.

3. Signing in

The planner is only for people their school registered for the Convening. Sign in with your own school email. Don’t share your sign-in link, and don’t sign in as anyone else. If you think someone used your account, tell your teacher or contact us. We may remove access for anyone who breaks these terms.

4. Acceptable use

Use the Site in a way that’s lawful and fair to everyone else. Don’t:

5. What you submit

Your session picks and ratings are yours. By submitting ratings, you let OCDE use them to run and improve the Convening and the network, including sharing totals and averages that don’t identify you with presenters, schools, and the public. Please give honest ratings; they help student presenters improve.

6. Our content

Session titles and descriptions are written by student presenters and are shared here with their permission. Presenter photos are used only with permission. Please respect presenters’ work: don’t copy it, edit it, or present it as your own. Other materials on the Site belong to OCDE or are used with permission, and may be used for non-commercial educational purposes with credit to the OC Student AI Network / OCDE. The OC Student AI Network name and OCDE logo may not be used without permission.

7. AI tools

Sessions and resources may involve AI tools. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, or biased, so check it before you rely on it, and follow your school’s rules for using AI. Don’t enter private information about yourself or others into an AI tool unless your school has approved that tool for that use. The Site itself does not send anything you enter to an AI model.

The Site links to other sites, such as Google Forms and school district websites, and runs on services such as Google Firebase. We don’t control those sites or services, and their own terms and privacy policies apply.

9. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we protect it. OCDE is a public agency, and some information submitted to the Site may be subject to the California Public Records Act, though student records and personal information are protected where the law allows.

10. Disclaimers

The Site is provided “as is” and “as available.” Event schedules, rooms, and sessions may change. To the fullest extent the law allows, OCDE disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We don’t promise the Site will always be available or error-free. Content written by presenters reflects their own views, not official OCDE policy.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, OCDE, its Board, officers, employees, and agents are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, arising from use of or inability to use the Site. Nothing here limits liability that can’t be limited by law, or waives any immunity, defense, or limitation available to OCDE as a public entity under California law, including the Government Claims Act.

12. Suspension

We may suspend or end access to the Site or any part of it, including for breaking these terms. You can stop using the Site and ask us to delete your planner information at any time. Sections 5, 6, 10, 11, and 14 continue to apply after that.

13. Changes

We may change or stop any part of the Site. If we update these terms, we will change the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will tell participating schools.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by California law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts in Orange County, California, subject to the claim-presentation requirements for public entities under California law.
